You're still full of it...no way your 460 is *stock* and has 360k and puts out 600 + hp...sorry junior no one here but you fell off the turnip truck yesterday.

That truck in the 80s would have had when new the low 200s for horsepower stock and around 375 torque stock as installed and not rear wheels. Those engines can be built to make incredible amounts of power though and are one of the best engine designs ever made and I would believe that level of miles cause they will do far more than 360,000 miles.

The 80s was very low power for pretty much every engine when stock at that time and you can't believe the dyno. And I do know the old Ford trucks inside and out.

Do it, you won't be sorry. You should use a C6 auto and a 9" rear just simply cause they have been used by Ford in far heavier vehicles than the T-Bird like Lincolns and half ton trucks and can handle the power. The C6 auto was also used in 3/4 and 1-ton trucks so it is a very heavy duty transmission.

I don't know much about Ford's of that era, but that's the first time I've ever heard of Ford under rating anything. They seemed to have trouble making good on their power claims with the Mustang Cobras in the 90's. The 460 is more like a big ol' truck motor anyway, not so much a muscle car mill.

It is possible however to make an honest 500 hp out of a 460 when built up with aftermarket parts.

A stock carbed 1984 460 making almost as much torque as a Cummins, Duramax or powerstoke? Sorry bud but your sadly mistaken.

That motor stock in an 80's model 3/4 ton Ford was a pig, pure and simple.

A 1998 S10 with a 4.3 would beat it off the line in stock form.

If your outlandish claims were true, that would mean that a 1984 460 made better numbers then a modern GM 8.1L or a Ford V10.

Also, no stock truck ever made would beat a 2007 Corvette. Ever.

this isnt just any regular 460 build buddy is a 5th wheel setup...Ford beefed up the package when it came to the 5th model's..800cfm 4 barrel double pump some minor exhaust modifications..while it may be true the dyno is off i dont believe it is off by much...And about your claims to a 90's s10 beating it off the line your nutz my uncle has a 96 s10 4.3l vortec with complete towing package n i dont even have to kick in the second pump to beat him off the line..smoke the pants off a 2004 silverado with the 5.3l..btw removing the govenor on the carb was a big limter to the power of this engine..will now rev 6500 instead of 4000..1 thing trucks like that have over newer ones in power is they actualy have a GRANNY gear.which add to the low end torque to the wheel's..1st gear in most newer trucks is just that 1st gear take n 84 v 2004 thats that big difference granny gears arent meant to be used over 10mph and by 15-20 your MAXING the gear where as 1st gear you'll usualy get 20-30mph like a CAR. not only that newer trucks are made to run faster also look at the speed rating most will say 100-120mph 84 250 said 85..lower gearing HIGHER power overall..n yes your right about the 90's stangs..but that was a 90's thing ALL american auto makers where over rating their trucks and cars..take a look at early 80's and back most where under rated for power and over rated for gas effeciency.

I'm not sure what to tell you. An 80's model 7.5l only made around 225 HP

and 370 ft/lbs (roughly). That Chevrolet Silverado with the 5.3l Vortec you

supposedly smoked the pants off of makes around 295HP and 330 ft/lbs, not

too mention it's geared higher. I've driven a 5.3 and it runs like a scalded dog

so I find it hard to believe you beat one in a race. Your truck is made to pull,

not to race. Those lower gears you brag about do nothing but make the truck

slower but they do make it pull better. Higher gears= faster, lower gears=

slower. The fact is trucks from that era were not hot rods, they were pigs.

Plain and simple. Even the Chevrolet 1500 454SS from the early 90's was a

bit of a pig in stock form, and it was supposed to be fast.

your comparing apple's to oranges..70-80's ford trucks had more power then chevy..expecialy off the line becouse they had TRUE 4x4...not this junk you see on wanna be trucks where it rotates which tires spin no 4 wheel's spinning at all times..not to mention the 460 was a stronger more powerful motor then the 454..which i've killed all to many of.86 suburban killed the original 454 replaced it with new goodwrench 454 blew both in under a week towing loads my truck tows every week with 300k+ miles.faster in top speed but lacking in torque n doesnt get a jump on the 460 till after 50-60mph which is after the towing and torque all but died in the older trucks..I grew up with a chevy family that all my mom grandparents uncle's and aunts buy.step dad is a dodge fan and he's had nothing but trouble...chevy the parts just seem to be more expensive for a lighter duty product..another proof of that bought n 82 camaro z28 with that 305 had 62k on it blew it sky high without even trying..went to replace it n found out i could get a 302ho at a better price..bought the bird sunk a bit of money in it havent been able to blow it even trying bought the truck have tryed plenty of times to kill it have thrown 40k+ on the 5th wheel which does sink the truck drasticly and raced a semi hauling 75k.been off road ramping all the fun 'childish' stuff you can think of...doesnt even have a tick in the motor just the to be expected oil burning problem.I take cars and trucks to the limit of what i expect from them if they cant keep at par then they usualy die trying...i now expect ANY 250/2500 to tow a min of 35k if it cant i dont want it..try dropping 35k on a newer 2500 chevy..n she'll sink into the ground...n blow those pretty lil gas shocks...let it bounce on the road n you'll over stretch those pretty lil gas shocks gpal already proved that when my modified suburban 3500 died on 77 in wv w/ a bobcat he ended up over streching his shocks twisted a camshaft so bad it snapped in many pieces.a freaking bob cat with proper trailor.not 6 months later do it with my truck but from virginia beach-chicago instead of charleston wv-jackson ohio only problem is the motor got a lil hot so i had to stop for a bit in the mountians...i do have some bad things to say about that truck tho it blows starters and starter noids like every couple months gotta put about a quart of oil in every week and gas cost bout $120 to fill and it'll eat it up just as fast as you can put it in if you dont keep your foot out of it..highway wo/load gets bout 13mpg n 7-9 city full load 25-30k gets about 5 highway and sometimes less then a mile city.

Damn, your posts are hard to read.

Next time why don't you try using just one period at the end and capitalizing at the beginning? Just a suggestion.
