Person buys a new or nearly new car. Around 5 or 6 years old, the owner is angry with the car for leaving them stranded. Problem was a dead battery but they still blame the company that made the car instead of themselves for not getting the battery tested BEFORE it left them stranded.

Auto-related topics tend to contain a higher % of dumb things versus other topics in my opinion.

Like someone still hating a brand because of something that happened with a rental car 12 years ago.

Like someone asking for an opinion about, say, a Chrysler minivan versus a Toyota minivan, and posters reply with stuff like how a 7 year old 2-door VW hatchback is the much better choice (and lo and behold...the poster owns...a 7 year old 2-door VW hatchback).

And so on...

I dunno. I used to own a Ford Windstar that gave me CONSTANT problems. Some of the problems were not necessarily the Van's fault, but most were. The combination of all of the different problems throughout the years ended up making me hate the van. I finally reached my last straw when one of the rear brakes froze up during a snow storm (not necessarily the Van's fault) and I was left stranded. I had finally reached my breaking point, even though the final straw didn't necessarily have anything to do with that particular car or make.

Haha, so me. Except the hating Mazda part. The battery finally gave out on my Mazda. Six years and about 140,000 miles. Panasonic makes a damn good battery, seems the replacements never last nearly as long no mater what you spend on them. Once the first battery goes, you're relegating to replacing them every two or three years. I've know its been going for a while now, just been lazy and hadn't done anything about it. Got a jump start and headed over to Autozone for a new battery on Saturday. Cold weather plus too many short errands.

That would be dumb, since the battery is not made by the car manufacturer anyway.

We had a 2002 Jeep Liberty and one of the only things we can't complain about is the original battery, it went 9 years. There are lemons, and there are badly built cars, especially the first year of a new model.

I've had people say a tire is defective because they got a nail.
In fact, that may have been discussed here this year...
