Good assumption. That seems to be the market GM is going after.

It's too bad because I think the domestic market needed a good midsize truck. I'll just make do with my 97 ranger. It's bulletproof and cheap to maintain. I think that's what having a truck should be about.

Personally, CharlyGal . . . kinda sad.

I have always owned / driven Pick-Ups but never for "the image" and/or the approval / acceptance of others.

I think the ad has a lot of truth to it. A truck is more associated with a more rugged individual, which portrays a primitive mind response of being more adept to survival under rougher conditions. My wife drives a Miata, but on occasion will take the 3/4 ton Black Chevy Suburban, with the 454 MPFI, big tires, and black windows. All her Court System co-workers and cops think its cool. Trucks always got more looks than new Cars, even Cadillacs.

Gotta go with the truck.

I'm pretty sure my car (Prius) substracts about as much sex appeal as a vehicle possibly can. It picks up hookers just as well though, so if you're trying to buy women with your car just skip the car and buy the women already.

Default Totally agree.

Further: a Ranger sized turbo-diesel would be gravy on top. Be great to see a mid sized truck with the grunt of a inline 4, 5 or small 6 (3.0 to 3.5 liter. -- or 200 cubic inch for us old timers) cylinder diesel on the market.

I have a little 3500 lb boat/trailer rig that just doesn't require the F250 super duty fifth wheel turbo diesel power like my brother in law has over in Alabama, nor even the F150 gas rig. Would like to have a lil diesel truck for the lighter duty stuff-- eg not pulling livestock fifth wheels around. Nothin wrong with fifth wheels, but Savin on the fuel and maintenance of a big t-d V8 would be good.
My little diesel tractor has waaaaay more torque and power than a same sized gas powered tractor . Why not have that power advantage up into mid size Truck-Ville???

On edit; so happily married to my wife that the truck sex thing went over my head... I'm just talking practical truck talk here. ;0)

Here in my part of the world, go down to a local shopping center and see over half of all vehicles will be a full size Pick Up or large SUV. There is not even 1 Tesla registered in the state, which will give you an idea of the vehicles they won't drive.

We have 3 vehicles. 1--Chevy Blazer. My wife's run to the post office car. 2--F-150 Pickup, my usual car. 3--2012 Explorer fully loaded, and very, very, few miles used when we want go out at night, to take a trip, or weather is bad. Actually not one car in the whole bunch.

No small pickups in this part of the country, or small SUVs. All full size. Most pickups are 4 door models (crew cab).
