Hi,
For the 2015, 2016 and 2017 model years, what kinds of alternative fuels and flex fuel engines are available, what fuels are they and in which vehicles?
Thanks

There are cars that run on E85, diesel or electric that's about it.

How do those usually rank in price from lowest to highest (including gasoline)? Anyone ever pay any attention?

The vehicles are not normally sold with a choice of E85 or E15, they are made flex fuel or not. Since hardly anyone sells the E85, they are not a real selling point so the number is low. Some cars were made flex but th n went back because it wasn't worth the trouble, though Toyota seems to be big on it. I only know of one place selling it in our large metro area and it costs $1/gallon more than regular gas. Diesel is about the same as gas now, but shoots up by a lot in winter. Diesel cars cost more than their gas counterpart, not only because of additional parts involved, but because of fewer sales. They also cost more to maintain, though overall, they could end up costing less over the life of the car because the engines last longer and they get better mileage. We also have a local non-ethanol station selling gas for $4.xx and it's always busy, for people with old or classic cars.

You can get diesel and easily set it up to run on waste fryer oil.

You can also get cars set up to run on CNG, but they are not that practical. I think they are converted rather than built for CNG to begin with, but they are available.

Why are CNG vehicles not that practical?
