My lady friend is 38 and looking to finally change from her 2002 Saturn SC to something else. She has her heart set on a 4 seat convertible and was fairly confident about a 2014 Mustang convertible. I recommended she rent one for a weekend as a trial run to determine if it was a good fit. Well, she rented one and really felt as though the ride was too rough for a long term daily driver. I was leaning more toward an Audi A4 but her budget (<$15k) means a 2008-2009 so not sure that's a good idea either.
If she has a bit more money or can get a loan; and has a mechanic friend - Jensen Interceptor Convertible.
More seriously, a Pontiac G6 hard top convertible. I am not sure whether the G6 convertible was available with the supercharged 3800, but even without the supercharger, it is a really neat car.
I would also take a look at the Volvo C70 because the Audi A4 would have the 1.8T engine that can have issues as the car ages. The A5 would be a much better vehicle in many respects, but a convertible would be a bit more expensive. The Solara is a Toyota, so reliable. Mercedes has made a 4-seat convertible for a few years, again, but I would only buy an E-Class, not a CLK, since the CLK are from the dubious Daimler-Chrysler years.

My wife actually likes them.
A little over the OP's budget but it's also a newer (2011) car.
