Are the drivers of Vans & Pickup trucks exempt from signalling turns or lane changes?

Only in Texas (AFAIK)

Motorists who are so lazy and contemptuous of anyone else on or beside the road as to not be able to move their finger or wrist a half inch to always use their turn signals properly should have two choices when caught: either have all of your wrist and finger bones broken in your left hand (to then have an almost valid excuse next time) or watch your child (or grandchild) get run over on their bike or in a crosswalk by someone else in a SUV who "merely forgot" to use their turn signals as well.

Because after all "it's not a big deal".

If more people would check their blinker fluid level we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Do their brake lights also not work? Blinker or not, you should not have to be braking so suddenly if you're leaving a proper following distance. For all you know at the time, they could be stopping for some road hazard.

I've always tried to make it a habit to signal every lane change and turn, even when nobody else is around, but there have probably been times when I've forgotten, we're all only human, after all.

You aren't in my car - I am. And 9 times out of 10, the van or pickup turns left after waiting for oncoming traffic, or turns right after slowing down significantly. In either case, without a blinker in advance, how am I supposed to know what they are slowing down or stopping for, when there is no sign or control device present?
