Many operate this way. One bad experience - and that brand is toast in their minds. It's human nature for some.

The CVT transmission in all of the Subaru's may be fine. But the folks I know who do have CVT transmission and know what a CVT is - do worry. These folks purchased new car thinking that all automatic transmissions were the same. Note that most folks don't have a clue what a CVT is until it breaks. Then they read up.

You still never answered the question.

I driven the NX for 2 weeks. It quiet smooth and refined. It could use more power. Same goes for then new RX which has close to 300 horses with a 6 cycl. The newer bmw and Audi with 4 cycl is pretty impressive. Like it or not the 4 cycl is here to stay for cars upwards of 50k sticker.

Agree. I don't mind the Subaru interiors, exteriors, and the drive system. Is just the motor I worry about. For Toyota I like the 4-cylinder motors only in the smaller car such as the Matrix and Corolla, not on the RAV4. For transmissions what I like the most are manual with plenty of gears, but would settle down with a fully automatic with 5-8 gears as long as it is a V6 motor such as the one Toyota used on the 2010 RAV4. The transmission on the 2010 RAV4 only has 5 gears, but the motor is powerful enough (270HP) to handle a couple of more gears.

Mazda claims 67db, magazine tests show 65db, cruising at 70. Very upscale for the segment.
Masda is doing a great job.

I haven’t, but watched video reviews. I can hear by the audio of the videos that I don’t like the sound of the engine, so I can’t imagine it would be any better in person.

I don't like it and I didn't buy it.
They put vinyl in 'em too and I didn't buy that either.

However, when driving my 2009 Forester the head gasket issue was always in the back of my mind, so I lost confidence on the Subaru motor. By the way, one of my coworkers has a dark yellow color Crosstrek (don't know what year, but fairly new), and the thing sounds like it's going to blow up when the motor cranks to a start. It may not be a head gasket problem, and she is taking it to a shop. She is afraid to drive it now.
So you’re incapable of renting a car for a couple of days while your indie mechanic installs two head gaskets from the turbo 4 cylinder engine in a NA 4 cylinder Subaru? It’s a $1,000 job and $1,500 at a dealership.

You should be riding a bicycle. Cars are too much for you

Agree, 4 cycle in CUV are here to stay.

Still doesn’t help the poor ride and noise of the 2019 Toyota RAV4 which Consumer Reports highlights “missing the mark”.

Pretty sad when they no longer recommend the Lexus LS500 and Genesis has surpassed Lexus.

I own a boring noisy "anemically powered" 4cyl., 1999 Toyota Camry.

If you look at CR’s reliability score of Genesis, it’s usually just ‘average’, while most Lexus models are ‘much better than average’. Genesis has come a long way, but they still have work to do.

Another problem with Genesis is the massive amount of depreciation, because the public still considers it an inferior brand (rightly or wrongly).
