ITS OFFICIAL PEOPLE

This is huge news for Baltimore especially West Bmore. This is a great opportunity for the city to invest in its neighborhoods not located around the water and to improve the quality of life for its residents. The right development at this location could spark a revitalization of other surrounding historic neighborhoods like Penn-North, Upton and Auchentroly.

I think it would be great if a development like this (but less ugly, more with an architectural character fitting of both Bolton Hill and Res Hill) went on this space:

That way you'd have a portion dedicated to a small- or medium-sized grocery store, a cafe or two with outdoor space, some sort of ode to the universities in the area (bookstore maybe). No Home Depot, Homesense (Canadian version of HomeGoods), or Winners (Canadian version of TJMaxx or Ross) though.

Or maybe a smaller version of Bethesda Row.

Maybe put behind it some sort of square with a small amphitheater and some greenspace/a small park. You could use the amphitheater for community events like outdoor movies, maybe a Live After Five event in late spring early summer, some of the area schools could put on some shows or events, cultural fair, whatever. Similar to Mel Lastman Square near North York Centre in Toronto, but concrete in the amphitheater area only and more green everywhere else.

It would be really cool if they could build some sort structure to tie Res Hill and Bolton Hill together across North Avenue, but I'm not sure that is realistic.
