I know, I know...the season is still early, but a .125 record pct. makes me want to vomit. Anyone remember back in the late 80's or early 90's when the Reds won their first 20 or so games in a row to start the season? They went on to cruise into the NLCS and I believe the WS. The Sox are doing the opposite. If they keep digging the hole deeper, it may be damn near impossible to overcome. Please Sox, prove me wrong!

So the Red Sox are gambling at most $30 million on the the more likely possibility to come out $50 million ahead. Smart move.

nice game from Beckett there as good as he has ever looked.

It is an odd year.

2006- 5.01
2007- 3.27
2008- 4.03
2009- 3.86
2010- 5.78

Well, ERA doesn't do a good job describing how well, or poorly, a pitcher pitched.

FIP does a better job:

Removes the ups and downs. But shows a more disturbing trend.

What'd Francona do, or not do?

Do you not like the players he's putting in the starting lineup?

Is he using relievers incorrectly?

Bad tactical decisions?
