Interesting that LaRussa followed jturr's advice and benched Jay.

Shumaker is a terrible CF defender (-10 runs in 650 innings by UZR) while Jay is average (4 runs in 750 innings).

Wilson doesn't look too good right now.

The only strikes he can throw are meat balls, outside of a sick cutter to Berkman for strike 1

Rangers are lucky they're only down 2-0. This could easily be 4-0 or 5-0.

Pujols has gotta be running on those 3-2 pitches to Hollliday. Even a strike out could lead to a run if the throw to second goes through,, but you have to stay out of the DP with a runner on third.

I still don't like a position player at the top of the batting order bunting a runner, not even to third, from the left side, early in the game. Just let him hit behind the runner, instead of an automatic out.

Hey, can someone go wake Michael Young up and tell 'em we need him to start batting? We had two guys on bases and really needed one of Yung's doubles.

Oh well, we got a solo HR out of it.

Indeed,,, still shaking my noggin at that lost opportunity - hopefully doesn't turn out to be critical, with 5 innings yet to go. And actually, IMHO Wilson is actually pitching pretty good,,, just that the Cards ain't hitting that well. Just hope that Carp does better, and longer

PS: really peeved about too many of the Card's lack of hustle when running to 1st base

Followed by a 1-2-3 inning with Beltre, Cruz and Murphy up...

Looked like Beltre knew what was coming...or at least guessing curveball.

This is what cost St. Louis game 2. The inability to hold on to a late lead.
