You'll notice that the change in the Met coaching staff that removed Rickey Henderson was done very quietly. There's a reason for that. I think that top brass does correlate Henderson and Reye's awful second half.

I expect Reyes to bounce back, Wright and Beltran to have their usual seasons, Delgado to be better than last year (though not quite what he was two years ago) and a big surprise season from Ryan Church.

I expect double digit winning seasons from Santana, Martinez, Maine and (wait for it) Pelfry! I believe the bullpen will be stronger with Duaner Sanchez's return and the addition of Steven Register (rule 5 player).

I predict the following:

1. Mets (94-68)
2. Phillies (87-75)
3. Nationals (81-81)
4. Braves (80-82)
5. Marlins (73-89)

In the end, the Mets will beat the Cleveland Indians in a six-game world series with the final game at Shea being one to remember. (Yes, I know that means the National League has to win the All-Star game).

I think the Braves are balanced, very fragile, but balanced. If Smoltz goes down we're done, if Chipper goes down we are through, but having Tex for a whole year will be very good.

I expect the NY media to get all over Santana whenever he messes up, that is if he messes up. Maybe i'm biased, but I think the Mets all have weak psyches who have not done anything yet. My opinion though, I very well may be sick and miserable during the season.

Okay, I have a question for you then. Is that rivalry with the Mets real because I think it's nonesense, but it was /is entertaining though. I just don't get how people are counting out Atlanta. Oh yeah, how many paper grocery bags do you own?

i really don't think it's real, the only reason im counting the Braves it's cause they signed Glavine and he's like 42 years old, ANCIENT by baseball standards, it seems to me like they just did that for publicity.

The Braves-Mets rivalry is better than the Fillies-<fill-in-the-blank> rivalry.
I know when I look at games to go to at Shea I would much rather go to a Braves game than a Fillies game.

Here's my reasoning.

Smoltz is 41, Glavine is 42 and Hampton is injury prone. Starting picthing will be an issue. So will defense with Andruw gone. Balls that never dropped in before will now. Chipper is 36 or 37 and will start to slow down around mid-season. Who's the closer?

Bobby Cox is a brilliant manager and will get the most from what he's got, but I just don't see it as being enough.

By the way, as a Met fan, I do get "up" for the Braves and the Yankees more than for any other team. Those are two real rivals.

That's fair. I really didn't like picking up Glavine either he was sooo good with the Mets. It would've been better if we let him play one game during spring training.
