Last time I checked the ESPN boards, the majority of people, Dodger fans and even SF fans, enjoyed the pre-game ceremony/first pitch.
Yet there's always those one or two people out there that have got to be critic. Its best to ignore these people.
You're right, of course, but how could a baseball fan not know that first-pitch ceremonies are often silly and comical, but sometimes poignant, as we may be seeing the honoree for the last time.
That was a real treat, seeing Steve, Fernando, and Vinnie together.
Best to remember that one's comments about something tell you more about that someone that the thing they are commenting on.
Saying that you loved the Vin first pitch tells me nothing about the ceremony, but something about you

Beauty (and ugliness) exposes the mind of the beholder.
Never a Dodger fan, but always a Vin Scully fan. Enjoyed the pregame deal w/ Yeager and Fernando. Can you believe those stats on Fernando with shutouts and complete games? Unheard of in today's game.
Exactly, so, arguing about whether it was good or bad, is ridiculous.
It was neither.
People liked it, or they didn't (or something between).
It could be bad despite the fact that some liked it anyway. It could be good despite the fact that some disliked it. You seem to be arguing that all judgment is void because of the possibility of counter judgment.

What would make it inherently good or bad?
