Who do you think will go in?
It looks like it will be a good year for the holdovers who didn't quite get the last few times ( Rice, Dawson and Blyleven) and also the newcomer Rickey Henderson.
Henderson will get in of course. I also think Blyleven, Trammel, and Dawson, three stars from my childhood, should get in. Not sold on Rice though. From what I know about him, it seems that he was good for a bit but then fizzled out.

it's true Rice didn't have the longevity that some of the others had, but for about 6 or 7 seasons he was the most feared hitter in the AL and maybe in baseball.

I compare Rice closely with Juan Gonzalez. Both batted around .290-.295. Both were feared for around 7 years. Both were MVPs. Both were RBI and HR machines. Both fizzled out early. Neither was particularly popular with the media.
I thought Juan would be a shoo-in up until around 2002. Now...he'll be lucky to get 10% of the vote.
Henderson, Tim Raines, and Jim Rice should get in.....Tim Raines is one of the best leadoff hitters in History...with a .295 AVG and a .385 career OBP. Henderson...of course, stolen base god.....and he also had power, hit over 20 homers 4 times. And Jim Rice was one of the most feared hitters in Baseball during the Late 70s/Early 80s.

Yeah but something Rice had on Juan Gon is he did it before the steroid era. These days the voters look at the gaudy homerun numbers player x put up and it doesn't carry as much weight as it did before Canseco.

Oh and I agree that Tim Raines belongs in the HOF, I doubt it will be on the 1st ballot though.
Tim Raines should go in too. BTW, this will be his second year on the ballot. First year he barely got over 20%. Sad. I loved him growing up.
Oops! I don't remember him on the ballot last yr. Either way I do hope he eventually gets in.
