You can't do that and have a full schedule of games on any night other than during interleague play.

I would leave them pretty much the same, but flip Washington or Atlanta to the NL Central and Pittsburgh to the East....it stinks that the Phils only play against an in-state rival for one home and one away series a year. In the AL, I would move the Rays and Blue Jays to the Central and the Tigers and White Sox to the East.

Putting Detroit in the EAST and Toronto in the CENTRAL makes no sense. Furthermore, Cleveland is also further east than Detroit. Cleveland should be in the east before Detroit.

Also, as has been pointed out, having 15 teams in each league will not work anyway.

That Wall St Journal article about getting rid of the AL and NL last week was pretty interesting for those who saw it. The Chicago guys were talking about it and this is how our local division would break down

WhiteSox
Cubs
Twins
Brewers
Cardinals

Obviously, that would be awesome. Rivalry city.

I said it a few times but here goes:

-10 man batting order which includes pitcher and DH
-Every year or every few years put all the teams in a hat and pick out one by one to form a division. It creates alot of new rivalries and certain teams you never see. It also gives certain teams that might not be so competitive a better chance because of possible weaker divisions. Imagine Baltimore or Toronto in the NL Central. Maybe they could stand a better chance.

Actualy it makes a lot of sense....Detroit is a big market team with a high payroll, they can compete better with the Yanks and Sox than Toronto, plus Detroit was an AL East team until the last realignment. Toronto could better compete in the Central, and they are fairly grographically close to places like Cleveland and Minnesota, and could generate some fan interest again in Toronto if they were competing.

I would like that too...a division of the Phillies, Mets, Red Sox, and Yankees would be something to see.

Another idea would be to send certain teams to AAA....the Pirates MIGHT be able to compete in AAA.

I would actually go for 15 teams per league. The schedule can be rearranged like this:

1. You play every team in your division 8 times (4 home, 4 road):
Totals 32 games

2. You play every team in the rest of your league 7 times (4 home, 3 road the first year, 3 home, 4 road the second year):
Totals 70 games

3. You play every team in the opposite league 4 times (2 home, 2 road):
Totals 60 games

32+70=102+60=162

The most common off day would be Monday as teams would most likely play 4 game series Tuesday-Friday then an Interleague matchup on Saturday and Sunday.
