If you knew anything about Seattle SuperSonics basketball the 1st question should be pretty obvious
Despite regional proximity, being coached by Mr Sonic, sharing an owner with the Seahawks, having some players with regional ties and having overall a likeable team ........ there is just no way a Sonics fan will ever pull for the Blazers
Most of us have sworn off pro-hoops, focused on the college game, hockey, NFL, etc
I've tried to follow a couple other teams (notably the hawks & bucks), but just can't get into it
welcome to the club. St. Louis had our team (The Hawks) stolen 43 years ago. The Spirits were denied entry into the NBA and the Board of Owners wouldn't let The Grizzlies move to St. Louis.

I agree, here in Seattle there's no such thing as an NBA any more, unless we should some day get another team. If we'd never had the Sonics we might be Blazer fans, but after what they did no one wants to support the NBA in any way, even watching them on TV. With the current governor and mayor I doubt we'll have a chance at another team any time soon since Key Arena is not acceptable to the NBA.
Thanks for selling us out, Howard Schultz, and thanks for that blockhead Clay Bennett we're SOL for Seattle pro basketball. And David Stern just kissed Bennett's A&* the whole way through, thanks for the support, Stern.

With all that there is no mention of the fact the people, poltiical leaders and business leaders in Seattle couldn't put together support for a new arena. That's the reason there is no NBA team in Seattle.
Some say it's the ultra-high rents and mortgages in Seattle that drove them over the edge. Having said that the Sonics actually got good fan support right through the Kevin Durant era. They just needed someone like Bill Gates ta step up with $400 million for a new stadium, and that didn't happen.
