Paul Pierce had 59 more FT attempts this year and only 35 more minutes played. Now, I would say both players have to share the ball a fair amount, but Pau even moreso since he plays with Kobe. So if anything I would say their acting careers are a wash.
I can't believe I am trying to defend a flopping European NBA player, lol. I agree Gasol flops world-cup style, but I still think Pierce is the most egregious offender here.
Cause I like stats, top ten FTA this reg season:
1. Kevin Durant 840 FTA
2. Dwight Howard 816 FTA
3. LBJ 773 FTA
4. D Wade FTA
5. A'mare Stoudemire 632 FTA
6. Carmelo Anthony 612 FTA
7. Chris Bosh 590 FTA
8. Dirk Nowitzki 586 FTA
9. Corey Maggette 551 FTA
10. Gerald Wallace 544 FTA
of those ten Dirk had the best % making 536 of his 586 attempts for a 91.5% line, Durant the second best % making an astonishing 756 of 840 attempts for an even 90%. The worst, of course was Dwight Howard who only made 483 of his 816 attempts for a 59% line.
To our discussion
Pierce was 18th in the league attempting, 433 and making 369 (85%)
Gasol was 33rd taking 362 and making 286 (79%)
Top 5 strictly on %
Nash 93.8%
Dirk 91.5%
Ray Allen 91.3%
Chauncy Billups 91%
Luke Ridnour 90.7%
I'll have to look but I feel like this is a bad top 5 list for best FT shooters in the league from a historical perspecitive
It means everything that the Lakers and Phil Jackson. have history on their side to defeat the Celtics.
but didnt the celtics beat lakers in 2008. that stat means nothing, and also people keep repeating phil jackson stats as if they cant be broken. doc rivers beat phil once, what makes you think he cant do it again? o cause phil jackson is 47 - 0
That was a horribly officiated game. Several bad calls one way with 'make-up' calls going the other way. The flow of the game was totally screwed with all the stoppages of play. Not that I can pretend to be a coach, but I'm not sure why Doc Rivers stayed with Garnett. He was more a liability than anything. The Celts best lineup in this series seems to be Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Big Baby, and Rasheed.
Garnett is obviously going to be a non-factor this series. It's just sad to see how much he's regressed( injuries and age). Pierce is going to be up and down. If the Celts win, it will be on the strengths of Rondo's all-around play, and Ray Allen's shooting, with contributions from Big Baby and Rasheed. One good thing the Celts can take from this, they won with only 2 of the 'Big 4' playing well. Rondo is pretty consistent with what he brings, and they do an excellent job freeing up Ray Allen. If they can get a really big game from Pierce, and if Garnett is able to give them 'something', I like the Celtics to win this series.
The bad thing about the flops in game 2 was that it seemed as if the flops were aimed at Kobe on purpose. Those 3 fouls called on Kobe were ALL flops. If they had occured on different players, that would have been different.
I believe that the Lakers were on their way to winning game 2 but those flops against Kobe put him on the bench and took him out of his rhymn.
