Well the house will be 2200 sq ft with an 1800 sq ft garage and we are planning a concrete slab for the foundations.

I don't see why we can't go 12' on the lanai, good suggestion.

As far as the trailer it's just a 26' with slide out and we just plan on taking it directly to the property so no holoholo as of yet. Yes they have a new rubber coating they stretch over the roof for coastal living and when we are done with it we might offer it to the next folks coming to build their home or just ship it back to the mainland. I just wanted to be able to stay on the building site in comfort along with keeping an eye on materials and such.

The neighbors we meet were outstanding and very open. I am not to worried about catchment system, I will be using the filtering system and the uv system for my water with an additional filter set up for the drinking water but you can always bring in your drinking water and a modest filtering system for showers and such.

It is very satisfying building your own home I have done it many times and the last one is the one I am living in now which is a 3000 sq ft true log home and that was challenging to say the least.

We had the roof of the trailer rubberized and the sides are fiberglass instead of metal but yes I will most likely build a temporary cover for it to be on the safe side.

I am very much looking forward to the new adventure almost as much as my wife is

Exciting to hear that your plans are moving along! Are you going to end up bring more or less "stuff" than you thought at the beginning?

Oh probably more stuff than I wanted, I am having a hard time giving up my 68 mustang fastback, and a few other things but I still have time to sell off more stuff.

I am glad to hear from you and glad to see your getting some sunshine there. We look forward to getting over there and we will take you out for dinner some time and it's on Gwyn honest my treat as long as she pays for it.

You can say that again! We've had some spectacular days this week...happy to say good-bye to what seemed like an unusually long rainy season. It's so nice the see the changes in the sky at sunset again!

Ever since the movie Bullit with Steve McQueen I have always wanted one. I had Ford Racing build the motor and 5 speed transmission, put bear disc brakes on and a complete 1" drop GT500 suspension and needless to say this bad boy scoots.

Sorry to hear you gave up your cars, they kind of become like your kids. But I think the payoff is worth it.
