The city had 6.5 years of lead time to get this ready. Here we are about to hit the 4.5 year mark and dirt "should be moving soon".

Disappointing, but not even a little surprising.

I think the BRT project was also aiming to be ready for the World Games. Seems like several years have passed since I've heard much about the progression of that. Anyone know what the status/timeline of that looks like?

Just like anything that goes on in Birmingham and Jefferson County. Probably someone didn't get their hand out in time to get a pay out, so they drug their feet.

Just wondering...is there an updated master plan for Grand River? I think they should focus on making it more of a touristy area vs the previous shopping area that was planned. Leeds and the eastern end could really benefit from something like what they have in Gatlinburg or Orlando, but with a different vibe.

A press release sent to me by the Third & Urban folks about the Denham Building.

THE DENHAM BUILDING WELCOMES ATLANTA-BASED MONDAY NIGHT BREWING TO PARKSIDE DISTRICT MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Atlanta-based developer Third & Urban, known for creating modern urban infill that builds community, is officially welcoming Monday Night Brewing to the Denham Building, the Parkside District’s soon-to-open Western anchor. The 86,000 square-foot mixed-use development is currenting pre-leasing its historic loft apartments, with the building slated to open in August and Monday Night Brewing projecting a late 2019 to early 2020 opening.

“We felt strongly about having a presence in Alabama, since it was the first state Monday Night Brewing expanded retail to outside of Georgia and was really well received,” said Monday Night Brewing Chief Executive Officer Jeff Heck. “There’s so much energy in Birmingham right now, we jumped at the chance to partner with another innovative company in Third & Urban to expand into an awesome Southeastern city near and dear to our hearts.”

This brewpub will mark the brewery’s first taproom outside of Atlanta and first location with a full food menu. Guests can expect 30 brews on tap, including small batch IPAs, barrel-aged and sour beers straight from Monday Night’s barrel-aging facility, and guest taps from other local breweries. The menu will offer simple, sharable fare built for beer pairings.

Located in the Denham Building’s metal outparcel building, the 10,000-square-foot brewpub will also feature an inviting patio and event space within easy walking distance to neighboring Parkside District amenities, including Railroad Park, Regions Field and a variety of other restaurants and bars.

“Monday Night Brewing’s expansion is a testament to the magnetism of Birmingham’s Parkside District,” said Third & Urban Principal Hank Farmer. “The city-centric, amenity-rich framework that’s here provided a firm foundation for the Denham Building to leverage, helping drive the vision of a truly mixed-use district.”

Combining office, residential and retail in a uniquely Birmingham way, the Denham Building adds a new element to a neighborhood well on its way to becoming an 18-hour live-work-play district. After announcing the start of construction late last year, the building is nearing delivery and actively leasing office, retail and restaurant space with loft pre-leasing beginning for August move-ins.

For more information on the Denham Building, visit www.denhambldg.com. Colliers International can be contacted for commercial leasing inquiries at 205-445-0955 and residential leasing tours can be arranged through Arlington Properties at 205-531-0646.

Daniel Corp. begins construction on Parkside development

This is the one across from Regions Field. You'll see it in the outfield if you're sitting on the 3rd base side (facing south).

Nice to see some retail on the ground... hopefully that doesn't sit empty.

The article says 5 stories, but the rendering shows at least 6... maybe even 7.
