Just finished "The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry" by Gabrielle Zevin https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...e-of-a-j-fikry

This was a 3.5 star read for me. It is a book centered around books and a bookstore on an island.

"The sign over the porch of the purple Victorian cottage is faded, and Amelia nearly walks past it."

I read that about a year ago and really enjoyed it. It was just a sweet good read.

Default I Believe I Lived the Whole Thing, by Howie Cohen

This book, I Can't Believe I Lived the Whole Thing, by Howie Cohen, is one of the best books that I've read, and on the surface quite different from my usual reading, historical non-fiction. The book is mostly a memoir/autobiography of a leader in the advertising industry. He was the main author of the famous 1971 Alka Seltzer commercials "Try it you'll like it" and "I can't believe I ate the whole thing.

The book is downright hilarious. I'm glad my wife wasn't home since my laughter would no doubt have awakened her, especially (spoiler alert) when rogue kangaroo meat went "boing boing boing" on a hapless client. I won't say too much more because I don't want to create any more spoilers.

The reason I say that the book "one the surface" differs from historical non-fiction is that much of the cultural history of the period 1967-2017 is wrapped into the book. But the book is more than that. It is also a beautiful love story.

I’ve been reading quite a bit lately. With all the craziness in our world I’m finding that books help to keep me grounded. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon the Chet and Bernie series by Spencer Quinn. The series is about Chet the dog and his human Bernie. They are partners in the Little Detective agency. The story is told by Chet the dog and by the time I was into the first chapter I was hooked. If you’re looking for literary genius this isn’t it but Chet’s doggy goodness is just the ticket to make you feel better. I finished the fourth book in the series and had to start something else so I can make this great, fun read last longer.

Hope all my City Data friends are doing well!

So nice to see you Holly-Kay! Stick around please! We have missed you.

JG that book I Believe I Lived the Whole Thingby Howie Cohen sounds delightful. Adding it to the ever growing list.

Yesterday I finished Redhead By the Side of the Road ( anne tyler) which was a very good read, sweet story and then as is my usual complaint, the ending kind of left me but it was such a nice engrossing story.
Not sure what I will read next. I have about 3 books available to me via the library for kindle. Can't decide.

Just finishing up Evil Geniuses: The Unmaking of America, by Kurt Andersen. It is fantastic and I highly recommend it.

I'm currently reading Writers & Lovers by Lilly King. I had never heard of Lilly King until a couple of months ago--how did I miss her??? Then, I found Euphoria on the Amazon site. Next, I had to read Father of the Rain. She is a wonderful writer and I now have to read everything she has written.
