John Lescroart has lots of books set in SF with an attorney, a detective, etc.
I finished the first in the Dismas Hardy series last week, and liked it enough to continue. Thanks.

I'm reading her in order, too. I found Taken, her first book not to be to my liking, possibly because I'm not at all familiar with the North Side, but I'm enjoying her second book now, Fallen, which takes place mainly in Squirrel Hill. I'm more drawn in by Frank, the lead character in Fallen, whereas I found the lead in Taken less understandable: I doubt I would have done what she did that starts her story in action. I'm going to continue with KG's books, too. Thanks so much.
As previously mentioned, you should enjoy David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series. They all take place in the NJ/NY metro areas. Don't be fooled by the "dog" titles...the books are lawyer/mystery themed. Rosenfelt is a lover of Goldens, fosters them in real life and just likes to throw in tidbits with his character dog.
Rosenfelt has also written some stand alone novels which are also pretty good.
You mentioned Harlen Coban. Did you read his Myron Bolitar series? Who-done-its involving athletes. Very good reading!!

Thanks, SadieLu. Yes, I've read all of the Myron Bolitar series, plus most of Coben's other books. I just ordered the first book in the Andy Carpenter series.

Jay,
Came across this old post. Wondering what your thoughts were on the Andy Carpenter series, one of my favorites!
I just read Lescroart's latest, The Fall. He's another favorite of mine. Did you continue with his Dismas Hardy series?
Have you tried Tana French? I think anyone who likes the authors listed by the OP would like her, too.
She has only written only five books (first one written in 2007) so far -- but they are all VERY good and involving and -- to me at least -- unpredictable.
She's Irish, and the novels also mainly take place in Ireland, so they are a bit different in style from most of the U.S. authors.
I like Daniel Silva in addition to many of those listed
