My fiance and I have been living in boston for the past 9 months in brighton area right in the middle of BU and Boston College. However we are getting married in January and our lease here ends at the same time so we are looking at getting away from the city a bit but still have easy access to it via the different public transportation. We wanted to get some idea about neighbourhoods which has the typical condo style or townhome apartments with easy access to the city. Our rental budget is around 1800 to 2k but we would definitely prefer somewhere which has the typic feel of the suburbs but yet not very far away from the city... Any suggestions would be great.... Thanks!

Or you can look in Jamaica Plain or Roslindale. West Roxbury is a Boston neighborhood that is very suburban, but you would have to take commuter rail or buses. Sorry, hadn't notice that the title was for Boston neighborhoods.

I could be wrong,, but I don't think the OP meant it had to within the official city limits. Braintree/Quincy is pretty much as close to downtown and easy easy easy on the red line. Closer to the coast too

Thanks everyone for the replies.....we selected an apartment in Canton,MA and decided to go with the commuter rail to come to downtown...hopefully we made the right choice

How is driving from Canton to the Quincy or Braintree Red line stop on the weekends? Do people do this?
