I recently had someone told me that many nurses in Boston make 65k an hour...i have seen no evidence of this on salary.com and glassdoor. I know nurses can get paid well, but this seems like a lot. Anyone know?

Nurses definitely do not make 65k an hour.

65k a year, yes.

65 an hour, probably depends on what department they work in and how long they have been there.

I know 3 nurses well in Boston, all different hospitals. All earn over 100k. One over 120k. The last one at a non union hospital.

The going rate at the big hospitals is about $25/hr right out of graduate nursing school. Obviously your pay goes up as you get more experience and your annual pay depends on how many hours you work. $65k sounds about right for a nurse with a couple years experience.

Keep in mind there are several different levels of nurses. You can have either an associates, bachelors or masters and still be called a "nurse." Pay varies significantly based on your degree. Someone with a 2-yr nursing degree might have a salary of only $25-30k right out of school.

Sister is a nurse at a well known Boston hospital. She is well over 65K/year and has been for some time.

Yeah i can definitely see over 65k a year. I was surprised to hear many make 65k an hour...but now i'm not sure how true this is. An older nurse gave me this info.

The first time you said this I thought you made a typo, but now you did it again after shutout pointed it out. The only person who makes anywhere near $65,000 per hour is Larry Ellison in his best earning year. I'm really not sure what you're talking about now.

The nurse that gave you that info is exaggerating. I know.

Edit: I would say it to people too - "THere are plenty of nurses who make 65/hr and more". But that doesn't mean most do.
