Thanks for the comments. Sounds like Egelston Square and nearby streets is one of the most unsafe area? Most parts of Roxbury is sketchy / ghetto. One will have to take a risk buying a home in this neighborhood.

Roxbury still has a lot of crime. I hear of people saying how this area is gentrifying but it seems like they are just investing money on building and the crime isnt improving. They are putting lipstick on a pig IMO. The only area that seems ok is the one closest to the south end and that is $$$.

If you are looking for a good investment id look in hyde park. It's further out, there's no redline but there is the fairmount line which is the same price and goes about every hour to south station. I dont think prices there will stay as low as they are for long.

Yes; Roxbury is a horrible place. Please, please don't waste your money investing there with the intention of turning it into another student ghetto a la Mission Hill. If I were you I'd move on; plenty of other greener fields to exploit. Happy Holidays from Tito and friends!

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but there is indeed a lot of crime that goes on in roxbury. It's a drug and gang infested area. It's possible it will be a different place in 10 years but right now it's a ghetto...an overpriced one.

Tito jackson is an idiot who hates white people. He wants to improve these neighborhoods where black people live which is understandable but he doesn't seem to get that it comes with a price. He also wants to keep the neighborhoods affordable so current residents who dont work can stay. He's fighting a losing battle. Sometimes people simply have to move somewhere else.

The problem with this city is that even the crappy places are not cheap.

This. And the people who make it crappy obviously aren't paying market rents.

Exactly. Very frustrating. Or if they are paying rent they are making money illegally and wreaking havoc around them. People act like there isnt any crime in boston. Just last week 4 boston cops were dragged by car by some guy in Dorchester. But Dorchester is a hot real estate market now...sigh.

Yeah, I noticed there are some government subsidized condo units and apartments in Roxbury. There's income restrictions for buying or renting these places. Things like this help contribute to the neighborhood 's ghettoness.
