I don't recall seeing many DD's in Chicago and I was there three years ago. Then again, Chicago is a very big city. I do remember seeing a ton of them in Philadelphia, which I visited the same year and is probably the only other major city so far that I've seen a lot of them.

There used to be a ton of them in Montreal. I know of only one that is still going.

Dunkins made a big push into Chicago and Illinois in the recent past. But there are still more DD in MA and NY than the rest of the country combined. In MA, 1 DD for every 6500 people - in CA, 1 for every 12.5 million people.

So now we're talking about DD. No problem, I guess I brought it up.

Any Tim Hortons (they don't use an apostrophe even though the hockey player's name was Horton) left in New England without looking it up? I went to one five years ago outside Portland. I remember a small one near Kennedy Plaza in Providence which closed years ago, I think. Ten years ago, I encountered one off I-95 south of Providence in a shopping plaza.

Also, saw one years ago in Fall River but it must have closed long ago.

Maybe the U.S. stores aren't as good, and not as many selections as the Canadian stores? Aren't they still around Buffalo and Columbus (wasn't Hortons owned by Wendy's at one time, I think, and Wendy's is based in Columbus?)

I don't drink coffee...is Tim Hortons coffee better than its competitors?

The Canadians sure do love Tim Hortons. I don't know if there are any around here now. I do have a couple Canadian friends who seem to think there aren't any, at least not in the immediate area.

There certainly are Tim Hortons in Columbus (used to live there). They were formerly owned by Wendy's though I don't think they are anymore.

Just some trivia, but Columbus is behind a lot of national chains all over the country that you probably wouldn't guess, including Buffalo Wild Wings and Charley's Philly Steaks.

Buffalo-Niagara Region still has a ton of them, even more than Dunkin Donuts. That probably makes sense since Canada is just over the border not to mention Tim Horton last played for the Sabres during the time of his tragic untimely death. Other than that region, the only other one I saw was in Penn Station in NYC this past May. Maine used to have a lot but many closed down, in fact I think Tim Hortons closed all of their southern Maine stores as of last year. Someone can correct me on this.

Getting back to the original topic, if you look into the Au Bon Pain website, you'll find that not many metro areas have them. The chain seems to do well in major cities with major hospitals and medical centers. East coast cities like Boston, Philly and D.C. of course, Cleveland and Pittsburgh are a few others.
