Are there any public garages near where it was stolen? People who just want to take some easily-removable parts might bring it to the top floor of the nearest garage to do their quick dirty work and leave it. Otherwise, they probably brought it immediately to a chop shop where it will be completely stripped within a few hours.

I had my car stolen last year...it was one of the most awful experiences I have EVER HAD. The car turned up the next day in Mattapan completely stripped...so sad. Good luck with the entire experience, it really isn't fun. Contact your insurance company and they can usually hook you with a rental for the time being. Isn't it an awful feeling, I felt totalyl violated

had my car stolen in boston they found it in the projects of dorchester all stripped, no back seat, lights all smashed, radio etc took out.
Took my tax refund out , cashed it in with a false signature at a place in mattapan square.
Still never got my tax refund off the IRS even though I had proof it wasn't me who cashed it and that the signature was forged
thanks IRS I'm still waiting for my money

I later got parking tickets because they had took the plate off my car and used the plate on another car.

Had a nightmare trying to not pay those tickets then I had to pay to get the remains of my car out of the compound where the police had had it towed to.

one year later I had my bicycle stolen.

got fed up with it along with a crack house being operated down the road, having young guys asking me if they wanted to have my german shepard fight with their dogs for money.
took the T then to work where I witnessed a shooting and two people being shot

I then moved out, worst place I've ever lived.

Default Same here...my car was stolen from the Fenway area.

Don't be annoyed...or think that Boston isn't a great place to live. And I truly understand, because (I'm trying not be depressed about it) my green 1994 Toyota Corolla was stolen off Overland St. in the Fenway area Sept. 4th. What could someone possibly want w/ my little car. Lic Plate is 71XZ28. If you see it, please call the police.

I'm not leaving Boston...I'd only move to NYC anyway.

Car thefts, burglaries, and larceny unfortunately happen everywhere at any time. I cannot judge which Boston neighborhoods or suburbs have the highest rate of car thefts or burglaries and all I can suggest is get a lock for your car and/or an alarm system. I had one colleague who had her car stolen right in front of her home in Roslindale, it was later found stripped of everything near Jamaica Pond. Then I had another colleague living in North Dorchester whose car was broken into and the tape deck removed so you see that these unfortunate crimes happen anywhere.

A friend of mine had her 5 yr old Audi stolen from right by Fenway Park too. It was found stripped a few days later in Roxbury. I've seen cars in the nicest sections of Back Bay up on cinder blocks missing their tires. To put it bluntly, it sucks, but I think it's one of the unfortunate hazards of city living.

The cops told my friend that sometimes what happens is that thieves have access to a tow truck and will "tow" the car in the middle of the night. Cars getting towed is a pretty common occurrence in Boston so even if anyone happens to see it, they just assume that it's another car parked illegally getting towed and don't pay much attention.

Any chance that you were parked illegally (e.g., street cleaning that night)? Sometimes it takes a couple calls and persistence to track a car down in a tow lot.
