Looking to buy in either Longmont or Lafayette. Would love neighborhood recommendations, thoughts on the schools, as well as any info about areas to avoid. Are there neighborhoods that aren't safe or are both towns pretty safe? Thanks!

OP, we probably need more specifics regarding what you want and can afford. I would start by doing a search in this forum as there is already tons of info from previous threads regarding areas of Longmont and schools.

Without knowing your price range or age of children, it's hard to know what to recommend.

Your price range is what is needed most for an accurate answer. That will decide the neighborhood and then the schools.

Could spend as much as 220K but would prefer to stay closer to 200K.

Children are young so I'm interested in info on elementary, middle and high schools.

Ideally looking for 3 bedroom. Prefer single family home, but open to duplex or townhouse.

Where do you work?

For that price I'm not sure you can find anything in Longmont in the schools I'm familiar with. Maybe a townhouse.

80503 zipcode in southwest longmont has good schools..St Vrain school district and has a couple houses for sale in your range. That is pushing it close, most around here start at about 250k-300k. check Redfin website and type in zip code 80503.

That is a tricky price range. I love living in old town Longmont and while your price range is low, if you are patient, you might actually be able to find something around 220. It would need updating however.
