Ok these three towns are the ones most recommended to me. My husband's job will be lcated in Mead. We'd like a relatively short commute (under 30 mins preferrably).

Our other major concern (#1 really) is school districts. We prefer an excellent school system and also one that has agood special education, as I have a child that is high functioning autism. We also prefer the school system to have a decent sports program as I have a son that is very interested in playing sports.

As for house, we would like to be no more than 10 minutes from shopping, foodshopping, restaurants, etc. We would LOVE to live near a downtown area that is safe, but its not a priority by any means.

Which town meets our needs best? If its a town that I didn't list, please let me know!

Really, the answer is "any of the above"

I would throw Windsor out, because it's unnecessarily far away for somebody working in Mead.

Longmont should suit you well.

I wanted to add Louisville as well. That is another one that I keep hearing being recommended.

IMO, Loveland and Longmont are pretty comparable. They both have 8-letter names that start with L, and they are north-south of each other.

My point is, there's isn't anything that one has that the other doesn't. Why commute another 10 minutes (plus?) when you don't have to?

Louisville creates the same problem Windsor does.

Go with Longmont.

We chose Loveland specifically due to the house that we bought, but I think we'd have been just as happy in Longmont. We've got the "bigger town" shopping in Ft Collins but you're a bit closer to a Costco.

I'm not sure about Longmont schools but most school districts around here are pretty good, I know Loveland HSs all have good sports and drama programs.

Berthoud is rural. It's a small town about halfway between Longmont and Loveland off Hwy 287. It has no public transport to or from the town to anywhere else. I think there is one supermarket in town and a couple of local restaurants as well as a few local businesses like hairdressers, furniture shop, nail salon, barber, coffeeshops, a library and local museum. Last time I checked about 4800 people live there. It's a very nice little town with some gorgeous older historical houses surrounding a park. Oh and a railway line that runs thro the centre. I don't know anything about the local schools. There has been some development there with newer housing built on the outskirts of town.

You really want to make sure the move is as good as it could possibly get don't you?

Obviously throw out Windsor, and Louisville since they both would have a massive commute time. Loveland is nice but it would be a longer commute from there. Berthoud wouldn't be a bad idea except that it doesn't have the shopping advantages that Longmont or Loveland have, or the public transport advantages either.
