The most recent posts here are dead on correct. The governing bodies and managers/promoters have totally ruined boxing. From the alphabet orgs who want boxers to pay them a fee/cut of their purses to sanction and rank them to criminal managers like Al Hayman who wont put his fighters up against any dangerous opponent, and with his vast stable of boxers, wont even put them up against each other because he doesnt think he could make as much money.
So many good fights could be made, but you have people just lining up their bank accounts. For example, Saul Alvarez is fighting some 32-5 record dude named John Ryder on Cinco De Mayo weekend. WTF? A rematch with Bivol or even a Bietervev fight would draw much more attention, but those are much too dangerous.
Boxing needs ONE governing body and mandatory defenses of titles. If you are champion and dont want to, or refuse to fight the #1 challenger? Then you are stripped of your title. Something definitely needs to be done.
Inoue has made me come back to boxing during the past 2 yrs. Before that, i had abandoned it. Crawford, Inoue, and Tank are my favorite exciting fighters to watch. It was an awesome week last week when Crawford and Inoue destroyed the PBC fighters.
By December, i'm expecting Inoue to become 2x undisputed champ at 122 to join an exclusive company with Crawford. My prediction is that he will fight at 126 in 2024. I like his chances of becoming undisputed there too.
Believe it or not, like it or not, but Jake Paul is bringing life to boxing. I think he really is a great promoter and should stick to that. I don't think much of him as a boxer, but when it comes selling a fight, this dude knows his sh**. He also believes in more pay for fighters in general. All fighters should embrace him.
