Can anyone point me in the right direction please... I have never been to that area...

Going to niagara falls on a saturday in december. Need to find a hotel that is within a n easy drive to the falls (maybe 20 minutes?)

The issues are that :
I am hoping to spend less than 120 total (including/after parking)
it has to be in the US - we can't cross the border
the beds need to be comfortable (I was told this means it needs to be over 2 stars - so in the marriot/hilton/etc company lines.)

Can anyone recommend a hotel that fits those requirements?

Plenty of hotels fit. What else are you planning on doing? Do you want to stay in the Falls, in Buffalo or in between? Your issues are really non issues as that time of year most of the hotels are going to be cheaper (even the Adams Mark is around $125/night for its doubles in the winter).

Try searching a site like travelocity. Lots of hotels in the Buffalo northtowns and Niagara Falls area that may fit your request.

For convenience sake I think I would stay in Niagara Falls. There is Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, a Sheraton, and a couple others in NF US that I am sure would fit your budget and 2 star+ accomodations.

We found the Sheraton in Niagara Falls US to be very nice. It was recently renamed from another chain, it was recently remodeled within the past 3-5 years. The hotel puts you like two blocks from the falls itself, its a short walk.

Everything I have found has been 120 or more - not counting the taxes and fees. I really would like to spend less - if that is possible.

I did try all the discount sites - but I don't know the areas or anything about hotels - so I really don't know which ones are "good" or will have decent beds.

I will look up the Sheraton - but I think I saw that one before and it was still pretty pricey

Are you looking for New Years Eve????
Thats something that maybe should have been mentioned as its a little different than a random Saturday in December like the original post suggested.

I've checked several sites & found plenty of hotel openings for all the other Saturday's in December for under $100/night but if you're looking for New Years Eve you'll likely be out of luck for anything under $100. Buffalo also has a ball drop & while its not as big as NYC its still attracts a lot of out of towners so you'll be hard pressed to find anything cheap even in Buffalo.

What about a Holiday Inn?

Search results

Travelocity also has a lot of 2 star types for under $100/night (Days Inn, S8, Econo Lodge, etc).
