Tornados? This cracks me up. Last week Omaha was struck by a tornado for the first time since 1975. That's 1 tornado in 23 years. Add to that, tornados have a relatively narrow damage path, and I think most people can live with them. (If you like tornados, you need to go a bit farther south. Kansas and Oklahoma get a lot more.)

Omaha is about as vanilla and safe a city as you can find. I see nothing wrong with it being on top of a family oriented list .


Disclosure:
I'm currently from Omaha but will be taking a job that requires me to relocate. Buffalo is one of my location choices, and I'm planning on placing it fairly high on my "wish list." (That's why I'm on the Buffalo forum. I'm not some crazy Omaha defender.)
