All of those corporations are publicly traded companies. If you have a 401K plan chances are you own a part of those companies. You lost money.

Many people will say that's a fair price to pay. However, too many people talk about those evil corporations as if they have no idea that they may own part of those companies. When companies fail or lose money a lot more people suffer than just the rich CEO's. A lot of blue collar, hard working people who have worked their whole lives suffer too when the value of their 401K drops. Some are unable to retire as planned and some simply have to scale back their retirement plans.

I just don't think many people get the whole "publicly traded corporation" thing.

And how many people in Ca own stock in these Texas companies? You might be surprised to learn people in the stock market, regardless of the state they live in own stock all over the world as a matter of fact. Especially if they have 401Ks.
