We live in a multicultural world, nation, state. I don't find that a bad thing. I held in my hands this weekend, reins, woven from horse tail hair by a Mexican American Vaquero. A remarkable piece of work, made by an American, who, for some, had the misfortune not to be born "white"

A friend of mine, some years younger, grew up here in our little town, makes his living singing, and mule packs into the Sierra whenever he gets the chance, recently moved to a small town in the Central Valley. The demographic stats tell us that the town in 85% hispanic. Why? One may ask, well,, because he is an hour from the trailheads now, instead of 4 or 5.

He also knows, that the way he sits a saddle, the gear he uses, the saddle, the rigging, the pack gear, the hat, all the stuff that the American Cowboy uses were developed and passed on by people that were not "white".

What people that are not "white" have given us, is America as we know it.

Anybody?

TVC 15 ----- When one like yourself puts up links like you just did, the California Cheerleaders ignore it, and keep saying California is so great nothing can be bad. They refuse to look at such proof of what is happening.

They seem to think that as long as California is increasing in population, things are great. They refuse to accept what has held up the population numbers are the number of illegal and legal immigrants which are mostly poor, are replacing the solid middle class who are fleeing, and taking their jobs with them as the companies move out.

They do not realize the middle skill job growth in California is only 1/3rd of the rest of the country, and only 10% of Texas (where a lot of the California companies are relocating to when they took the jobs from California giving Texas a big boost in middle skill jobs).

They do not realize that there has been no growth in California for Stem Jobs, which are the important and high paid jobs, in things like engineering, and technology over the past 10 years, while the country as a whole has gained jobs and Texas has grown by over 13% as they have developed their technology centers.

They refuse to take off their rose colored glasses, and read a long article like you posted. They refuse to look at the chart in the article which shows a net loss of Americans, and a big growth of foreign immigrants, a big part of them poor people from Mexico often illegal immigrants. They refuse to accept that the solid middle class that pay taxes are leaving the state, and are being replaced by poor people that do not pay taxes and need a lot of money draining social service assistance.

They look at how much the tax revenues are down as in your first link, and don't stop and think why they are down.

It is easy to see none of them have ever taken good economic classes, have never owned a business, and have no idea of the cause and effect that is keeping the unemployment almost the highest in the country. They just keep saying we are # 1 and our economy is so big, it cannot fail. THEY ARE WRONG. It is failing.

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.

Weather-wise, the entire state of Texas is unbearable for at least half of the year, and humidity is reason #1, followed by stifling heat.

No part of California has a similar situation to deal with for any extended period of time.

Thank you for the compliment. It is hard being a Great Spirit, but I manage.

You mean Poikilotherms? Most actually live in dry hot deserts that get really cold at night...like a large part of CA. That is why they must lie on rocks in the morning to warm up from the cold night. They also have to hide around noon in order to stay cool. They have learned to adapt to freezing and cold climates. Houston really does not have that issue nor is it dry.

Poikilothermic
