Yeah, that. I think the reasoning, "Well, yur honor, he NEEDED killin'" only works in Texas.

So this isn't all OT, well NH has no gun registry, and if there becomes one I will rightly ignor it, as Infringement.

Sorry you ran across one of our unenlightened Nebraska residents Mac-Muz. I have been through NH many times and I loved it. Great country and some of the best looking ladies I have seen anywhere.

Well sir, as I mentioned recently in a previous, different thread on 2nd Amendment rights, I hunted when I was a boy, but lost interest in guns and killing after a tour in Vietnam, '67 ... had a 20mm cannon there ... takes the fun out of shooting smaller ... but can't use 20mm for game ... ruins the meat every time

dark humor aside ... still hunt with crossbow (only have one good arm) ... y'all can have your guns ... I don't like loud noises anymore ... and don't feel any threats that call for armed response.

IMO that's nearly impossible to know. ('Nearly' added just for weasel factor.) I don't see any point in me guessing, I know nothing. Any firearms I may own were registered for me at the point of purchase (here in California).

That's a bummer. Not only do you have to decide whether or not to shoot, but you also have to decide which one you're least attached to. Probably wouldn't be a good idea for you to use that Kimber for self defense, eh?

I guess that's better than being on the receiving end and having to decide whether or not you're dead.

Heh! I just hope anybody who needs killin' bothers somebody else before they bother me. I imagine even a "righteous kill" ends up being a PITA in many ways, mandatory visit to local PD to sort it out, interviews, paperwork, perhaps court appearances or depositions, and forget about getting your property back.

All good reasons I'd be happier living in another state. I don't imagine the process would be a breeze anywhere but looks like CA is probably near the top of the list in terms of PITA factor.

First sentence is an "oh duh" second sentence, then don't.

The poll is a "duh." Are you going to post the correct answer? What's the point in summing up a bunch of guesses?

I am so glad you are upset about it, aside from my curiosity, posting the poll was worth it just for that alone.

Actually, with a good "strong castle" doctrine it is pretty much a breeze. If it's in your home and you say they were uninvited and you didn't want them there, there's a presumption of intent of wrong doing by the other and you can't even be questioned further.

So Lovehound brought up why I posted the poll. Well, here goes, the handgun laws in California are rigid and restrictive. So much so, that I had a hunch that the handgun laws in CA were as closely followed as the restrictions on cellphone use while driving, or the medical Marijuana guidelines adhered to.

Now, while not scientific the lopsidedness of the poll indicates a strong chance that most people share my opinion. I think for most people, if they have to use a weapon to save their life or the life of another, they will worry about the gun laws or confiscation later.

For those who question the need for the restrictive hand gun laws, it is my experience most laws come about because of negative actions. The high number of gun crimes in CA compared to a small state like New Hampshire (USA) and Nebraska or Arizona made the politicians want to do something So they did, and like most laws that are not supported by the population the law is ignored as much as is possible.

But if it were true that most laws result from negative actions, think about Columbine, which apparently didn't have any impact on changing gun laws in Colorado.

Interesting that the state of Louisiana has the highest percent of gun homicides in the U.S. I wonder what the reasons are.
