I live in Santa Clara Co. and despite the techie nature of the Silicon Valley, 107K seems high to me. I still think the majority of jobs are your run-of-the-mill jobs in the service sector. OK, maybe it's time for me to check out that link there.

This is kinda what I was thinking, too. I wonder if this survey counts part time/contract/temp jobs? Fewer and fewer people have "regular" full time jobs these days.

Read the fine print. The amount includes govt and private benefits including health insurance, FICA, Medicare and pensions.

Compensation is the income received by employees as remuneration for their work. Compensation is the sum of wage and salary disbursements and supplements to wages and salaries. Supplements to wages and salaries consist of employer contributions for government social insurance and employer contributions for employee pension and insurance funds.
