Until the state is split into at least 4 or 5 different states, nothing like this will help. Californians want Bay Area spending priorities, but Orange County taxation priorities. Conservatives should get rid of their massive gulag-style penal system, and then we can talk about cutting education. It shouldn't be the other way around.

Yes, we should all strive to be like the bay area where destroying wine gets you more jail time than homicide.

Uh think again. It's Liberals that drive that spending and infrastructure outlay. However I will admit that the idiot C's usually go along with what ever they propose when it comes to spending on California Prisons Budgets.

The conservatives managed to achieve that as the minority? That's amazing! Not that I have a dog in that fight, but your statement here achieves a breakthrough in dumb.

Rachel Maddow syndrome. Blame conservatives for all your problems, even in instances where they are practically non existent. Uusally comes from an unhealthy dose of or too much MSNBC.

Didn't Hitler take a similar approach?

MMM not sure. Hitler had the support of Germany's social conservatives, and most of his political-social enemies -communists, jews, catholics, gays, represented significant percentages of the German population. But yea, essentially blaming groups of people for problems that were largely caused by politicians(of all ideologies) and the ruling eliete class.

We sure do have a lot of people spending a lot of time in Sacramento, finding new ways to spend our money. They have done such a good job spending our money that they have over spent it for many many years to come.

Capitol Alert: Michael Reagan to chair initiative drive for part-time Legislature
Good for him; we have lived in 5 states since we were married and Ca is the only one with full time legislators. Some might think, because the state is so larege full time is needed: Texas doesn't have full time so there is an example of a state that can get the work done in less than 12 months.

Uh guys, can we keep the Nazi comparisons/analogies to a minimum? Thanks.

And Maddow's approach is the same as any other entertainer such as Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Stewart, Colbert, etc. In other words, catering to non-thinkers.

Also if you think it's amazing that Republicans control so much of CA's budget from their minority position, you don't know anything about the 2/3rds requirement to raise taxes or pass a budget, though voters recently repealed their own mandate for budgets IIRC...taxes still require a 2/3rds majority though.

Sounds all well and good that taxes don't get raised much, but the voters still mandate all kinds of ridiculous, contradictory stuff that ****s up the budget, and I recommend you guys watch this:

Daily Show On California Ballot Initiatives: Direct Democracy Is 'Clearly Flawed' (VIDEO)

California voters are the main culprit in all of this, again they've internalized conservative taxation policy (who's going to vote for higher taxes for themselves?) without thinking about the fact that they also mandate high amounts of spending on prisons and other things...stuff like infrastructure and education can be worthwhile but the 3 strikes mandate really ****ed up everything and created a massive gulag system that will take years to dismantle, and nobody wants to dismantle it.
