Kinda sounds like Sailing to the West in the Lord of the Rings to me.

While I think technological innovation is not only generally a good thing, but also inevitable, anyone who thinks skilled "blue-collar" work, trades, etc. is ever going to stop being in high demand is delusional.

Even "blue-collar" work is impacted by technology, and that's the point, that a lot of the ''old school'' blue collar folks, don't even wanna train for updated skills in the ''new'' blue-collar work!

And for anyone familiar with eastern mysticism and "non-duality", they would say that the Inner and the Outer Worlds are all really of a piece, and one and the same.... the paths are merely different.

Actually, that is not at all an accurate representation of the philosophy of "non-duality". But we digress too far to continue down this path of tangent here.

You mean even though we digressed just enuff to make your point...

BTW, if one wished to "confine" the definition of anything, the concept of something as expansive as non-duality seems the most unlikely one to choose (and the most ironic)!

But you can quibble with these guys, among others, if you wish...

Science and Nonduality: About: Nonduality
"Nonduality is the philosophical, spiritual, and scientific understanding of non-separation and fundamental intrinsic oneness."

Which to me means, seeking the Divine, Higher Consciousness, the Dharma, God, our Evolution, whatever... via technology and exploring the outer universe, or else via inner work, "navel-gazing" and empiricism... regardless, it's all good and they're all viable paths to essentially the same ''oneness'' and ''place''.

Although my ''religion'' does take PayPal!

You mean Joel "My hope lies with people who never go to Washington except to see the monuments" Kotkin, yet was one of Romney's biggest boosters?

BTW, I always thought that "bayonets and horses" quip really captured the essence of the GOP's 21st century outlook!

There is no New Economy

There is only the economy .

Sure Silicon Valley is doing well .. But Texas has a much better economy and is in better shape than us .

I'm not really a Texas booster

But San Jose is not the whole state

We need an economy that is healthy from top to bottom .

I remember the last time worship of the tech Gods was all the rage ..

It didn't end up too well . Remember when the media told us all " brick and mortar" stores would be gone in mere years . While some are vacant others fill their places etc

I also remember when the media told us it was the end of luxury back in 2008 2009 on cnbc . I remember thinking things are bad but this is bs , won't be bad forever

Last I checked those luxury companies at doing very very well.
