There has long been a sizeable Vietnamese community in/around Houston and on the Gulf Coast (the climate is considered to be similar to that of Vietnam's), so I'm not really surprised.

I foresee one allegedly racist and oppressive group merely being replaced by another.

Power corrupts, does it not?
white guy here

Latinos as a hole are far less racist than whites, blacks and Asians from my personal experiences. Most interracial relationships in this country are between whites and browns. When I was stationed in South Texas, I stopped noticing interracial couples between whites and browns after a while. I honestly don't consider most Latinos as being a different race than myself. They're no different than Italians or Greeks to me. Different language, a nice tan and different food, but that's about it.

...Says the guy from NC who probably doesn't understand Spanish... Homie needs to visit California before California comes to NC.

Trust me there are subtle but definite social consequences for Gringos who become minorities in their own communities.

I'm from CA And I speak pretty good Spanish too. Maybe if you where intelligent enough to learn a second language you wouldn't be so bitter about CA being taken back by it's owners.

I will offer this thread of dubious intent a meaningful morsel of history:

Mary Ellen Pleasant would no doubt be intrigued with your various concerns re: the racial mix of contemporary California. For those of you Californians so deprived of knowledge of the state's civil rights history, you may educate yourselves here:

Houston's also attracted many African-Americans from California, ironic considering how many blacks fled Jim Crow in Texas for California during the Great Migrations.
Interestingly, in the early 21st century, the Okies and the Blacks seem to have quite a bit in common. Both are part of the reverse migration to the Southern Plains.

It's an interesting topic - latino and hispanic are not races.

Many latinos identify as white.
