Me? I would move in a minute if I hated where I lived. I did so when I lived in LA. Now I am happy. Happy since 1973.

And remember. LA is not CA. Nor is the Bay Area. They comprise less than 2% of the State of CA.
Outside of LA, SF Bay Area and San Diego there is little to no work, of course I'm speaking for myself, also outside of those areas unemployment is quite high exceeding 8%+, maybe nice areas if your retired or work for yourself and in a field which still pay's the bills.

I have been in denial having been born here for some time, but now I am beginning to believe it , Mexico is going to get California one way or another.
Once it's as impoverished as Mexico, the'll start moving east.

Orange County has the lowest unemployment rates in the state, 5%

As a Gen X'er I left the golden state in the mid to late 00's. Ended up in the wrong place but looking to get out. Not necessarily back to Californ-i-a

No work in Sacramento? Myopic!

Plenty of work in my neck of the woods. 8% unemployment rate= 92% employment rate. I have a job. All of my co-workers have a job. All of my unretired friends have jobs.

Now why on earth would you post something like that? It points out an obvious example of how most people are finding themselves surviving in spite of hysterical defeatism swirling around on CityData.

Tops? Tier 4 for Edison is $.34/kwh and you have to use a lot to get into tier 4. My average electric bill is only around $40/month.

Assuming typical deductions, you'd have to be making over $250,000/year to pay ~$14,000 in income tax in California. A family making the median income will only pay ~$1,000 in state income tax. If one is making $250,000+ a year I reckon they probably wouldn't be that worried about saving money by moving to a humid cow patty.
Does everyone NEED a 3,000 sq ft home?

The 800k houses not 3k sq feet, they are 1,300 sq ft. The 3k sq foot homes sell for 1.5 million.
