We burned water out of the aquifer in the amount equal to lake Shasta this year... that ground water pumping is 100 year water... maybe 1000 year... we cannot do that for much longer... wells drying up.. there was a town that dried up and lived off water trucks...
Desalination isn't the answer either.... it too is very bad for the environment

I absolutely see mandatory rationing coming
I see a good long winter and full reservoirs and a snow pack to be envied, and all the water districts in the state breathing a great sigh of relief and then shoving their heads up you know where, and where they can whistle in the dark until the next crisis.

It has happened before. It will happen again.

A good beer definitely gives me a more positive outlook. Every time.

You got it! Walked down by the lighthouse the other day, and took a gander at the nice places right on the ocean. One good tsunami and of course, adios to them. But, oh what a way to go...

I understand. I've lived in cities/states with bad winters. And horrible, humid summers. But if everything else in your life, where you are currently living, is pretty good, it may not be worth it to uproot yourself for the promise of better winters. Family and friends are extremely important. On the other hand, if you're extremely bored with your current city, then -- Welcome to California. I was never bored in CA. Well, other than with the weather.

I think it noteworthy that even with the rain going in the clouds are being seeded almost non stop... as the clouds parted this morning you could see a checkerboard of che trails overhead ...

At what expense to the people of our community do we make water to supply others....?

Drought, drought, drought.

And yet no one questions moving to AZ or NM, which are far worse off water wise than SoCal.

Not to mention the other 90% of CA.

But, you're right! Nobody would run to the hills until they realized the sirens had gone on longer than normal ha ha!

I kind of like the idea - better than dying of Altzheimer's.
I live on a beautiful, forested mountain...
