Yes, you're right. My GDP figures are based all the way back to 2013. And considering the GDP for Texas is only half California's, I don't think the Panama Canal is going to double it. But go on and keep reaching. It's amusing to see how far people go to twist reality to fit their agenda.

The estimate I've heard is the Panama Canal dig threatens up to 25% of the Port of Los Angeles' market share. Hefty and certainly a major diminishment, but there are still logistics advantages to porting in SoCal.

Not sure the GOP would appreciate another blue state. Plus 100 senators > 102 senators.

1) Not THAT much.

2) No it won't.

Why haven't every other state split into two? Oregon, Washington, Texas? Pretty much any state with a large urban/rural divide could be split easily... right?

That question might be better answered in the forums for those states. This is the California forum so we're only asking about California. Just sayin'.

One reason. Because California has 38 million people whereas Washington and Oregon combined is just a little under 11 million.

But I think the point stands. We're the state that gives the bird outright to the Mason Dixon (So NV as well), and I have zero regard for the opinions of those from other states in this matter. Unless there is a critical mass of actual Californians demanding such a debate, this proud Californian kindly, respectfully, asks all others to ****.

If California did split into two states, how would they make a 51 star American flag?
