Do you have sources to support the 60-80% higher claim? I can't think of anyplace that comes close. If there is the voters in those areas chose to vote for it and have nobody to blame but themselves.

If you want to see the tax rates across the country, large cities included, take a look at this PDF.

Sure doesn't sound like it.

Different governments. Nevada is not controlled by greedy public employee unions and tax and spend liberals.

Neither of which have anything to do with what we are talking about. As often as you use those phrases they must be in the top 10 of the conservative catechism.

I live in Oakland California and speaking from looking at my own property tax bill for my single family home which I reside.

There are 6 more assessments on the November ballot... anyone's guess right now but history shows the Voters in Oakland tend to be very generous when it comes to taxing property and done in compliance with Prop 13.

There is good reason the founder enshrined in the State Constitution a prohibition on Split Tax rolls...

But if Prop 13 goes away it will mean more bureaucracy.
Yep, agree with both of these. Any talk of removing components of Prop 13 is the equivalent of a repeal, and then all bets are off (and anyone that doesn't believe that is simply gullible and the type of person that believes anything the government tells them despite all the waste and corruption that we've had over the years). Ultimately, these people are just cheerleaders for the filthy rich as this will ensure that every major metropolitan area in California will be for the 1%ers. With property taxes essentially doubling every 20 years (ours is double of what we paid when we bought) from incremental increases mostly due to special assessments that get approved every time they're put on the ballot, that couple buying that $1.3 to $1.6 million dollar home can expect to pay over $50k a year in property tax during retirement. Nothing better than getting shaken down by the government when you're relying on nothing but savings and SS. Vote "NO" for anyone or any proposition that state they will try to change Prop 13.
