It looks like things are heating up again this week with triple digits inland. I'm not sure when El Nino rains will arrive, but our state along with the PNW really needs the water and eventual cool down. Some friends of ours were visiting from a rural area outside of DC and they said they have been getting plenty of rain this year. Its just not making it out West. That said, they run AC from May through Sept. due to very high humidity. So their weather is far from ideal, just more moisture overall.

Here's an interesting image of the weather:

Every year I wish it would start raining as soon as possible, but I never expect it until at least November. Back in the winter of 20005-2005, it started raining measurably in October. That was unusual enough to be memorable (and it was an exceptionally wet yet).

September heat waves are unfortunately par for the course.

It looks like we could see some rain this week (and odd for our climate, but it will be paired with the heat!)
Took this 7 day precipitation total projection from today through next Sunday straight from the national weather service.

Sorry for my nitpicking but when you say that the rain is "just not making it out west" i am compelled to remind you of the direction of the jet stream and from whence our rain comes.

Of course, if we leave the Continental US we're bound to find some rain somewhere. Just head up to Alaska or better yet Hawaii and there you go. But then again we don't live in AK or HI and they aren't experiencing the drought we are either. You know that when even Seattle has no rain things are not as should be out West. But of course you knew I was speaking of the West Coast, right? The original photo shows as much including the path of the jet stream - way above us.

Here's an updated photo of it. Special notice: *not including Alaska.* haha

Looks Like Sacramento may be getting some of the worst of this one.

Rain is on the way for Wednesday and Thursday if you live in Orange County or further South.

I'm not a warm weather person... so this leaves few options... no one around here in my part of the SF Bay Area has A/C and 15 minutes away... everyone does.

Each year after school is back in session the real heat starts right as clockwork.

Yeah, 90 in SF is down right hot! In fact, it doesn't get much hotter from what I've seen, at least along the coast. But I guess it depends on which part of the city you are in, more coastal vs. inland Bay. Oakland is supposed to get into the mid 90s tomorrow.

If you are a runner as your name implies, it's not the greatest weather for that. 50s/60s is perfect running and hiking weather for me. When others are complaining about cold, I'm thinking how great it is for outdoor sports.

Slight chance of showers is better than nothing with all this heat. We have relatives who live in inland SD where it will be reaching close to 100. And they don't have AC! That's no fun at all! Anaheim will get into the 100s with no rain to cool them off. We have friends who just went down there a couple a weeks ago with their kids to Disneyland and the weather was the same - hot (100s) and dry.

So not ready for another week of over 100. And definitely not 107.

I'm ready for El Niño.
