I faxed the form in to the correct fax number by the deadline. If i'm remembering correctly, the mailing that i initially received stated that since i was a registered independent, i could make a change so that i could vote in the primary. That (faxing) was one of 3 options that were available (mail, fax or online [i think on-line was an option ... i lost the darn form]) to make the change if i wanted to vote in the primary election. And yet i received a ballot last week without the option to vote for the presidential nominee.
And yeah, the reason i posted on c-d-f is because the deadline is on Monday and since i don't have much on-line time each day and i am not good at researching this kind of thing on the web, it would be most efficient to ask here.
Thanks again. I'll go to the web-site that another poster recommended.
You can take the ballot you received to your polling place when in person voting starts and exchange it for a partisan ballot.

No problem, I'm glad you got the form in by the deadline. If you want to check and make sure the change has gone through, here's the Secretary of State website with the registration verification sites and phone numbers for each county:

Check Status of Your Voter Registration | California Secretary of State

LOL I got a call from the Bernie campaign and was told I had to register as a Democrat. (I'm NPP) I disagreed and we spent a few polite minutes trying to work it out. Then I realized I had already voted at the County Clerks office last week.

You HAVE to register as a Democrat to vote for either Bernie or Hilary in the primary. Hope you got straightened out in time. There is, of course, no such thing as a "registered Independent." You register with a party or Decine to State (DST) which doesn't give you any primary voting rights. It's amazing how any people think there is such a thing as an "Independent Party" which logically cannot exist.
