Guessing it's a 1976 TR6? Most auto technicians today that are under 50 have never worked on carbureted vehicles.

Yep... also have a sweet running BMW 2002 vintage 1976 that is a smog nightmare... it's in storage now as the Smog Tech renders it almost un-drivable...

At least my 1974 VW Thing is now exempt... for years it was 25 years and exempt and then 30 and then frozen at 1976...

But they get to live in CA, .... well at least as long as they can afford to.

Looks like the goal is a rich class and servants.

It beats having to drive on cobblestone and replacing your suspension a couple times a year. What's the labor rate, about $125 an hour, plus parts>in comparison $200 to $400 a year is a bargain.

I guess we'll see if the money actually even goes to repair the roads.
Driving from both Nv and Az you can tell you're back in Ca because the smooth as glass roads do turn to cobblestone.

Actually people are fighting back. There is a movement to recall Josh Newman who was part of the tipping point. I think Brown bit off more than he could chew on this one. There is another republican who voted for the bill but he's out next year anyway and it would take too long to remove him. But Newman has 4 years left on his term so he's a weak link.
Radio host Carl DeMaio says he'll work to recall Fullerton lawmaker who voted to raise California's gas tax - LA Times

Considering the bill has money going everywhere else with very little actually going to road repair (as we all knew it would) this bill has been nothing more than typical quid-pro-quo. We will see what happens. We recalled Gray Davis for doing the same thing with DMV fees
