That's what happens when too many people move to or retire to any area. The prices skyrocket. Before Tennessee became the new retirement Mecca for many, prices were quite reasonable.

I know someone that lived in a rent controlled apartment in Santa Monica. They moved so lost out on that. Said it was nice out there.

When we lived in AZ there were a large number of folks there who had escaped the Kalifornia cost of living and granola culture.

I would venture to guess that it depends on one's definition of " living" as opposed to "surviving".

So true, even in many other states besides coastal this applies.
