At one point last month, children were admitted to Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital with a startling range of seven respiratory viruses. They had adenovirus and rhinovirus, respiratory syncytial virus and human metapneumovirus, influenza and parainfluenza, as well as the coronavirus — which many specialists say is to blame for the unusual surges.

“That’s not typical for any time of year and certainly not typical in May and June,” said Thomas Murray, an infection-control expert and associate professor of pediatrics at Yale. Some children admitted to the hospital were co-infected with two viruses and a few with three, he said.

“It’s a massive natural experiment,” said Michael Mina, an epidemiologist and chief science officer at the digital health platform eMed. Mina said the shift in seasonality is explained largely by our lack of recent exposure to common viruses, making us vulnerable to their return.
All these mask lovers touting how they haven't gotten sick in over two years or whatever, I always thought that's not normal and potentially dangerous with their bodies not being able to react well when they do eventually get sick. Same with the over sanitization of everything and the potential for superbugs. Germs and getting sick are part of normal life and I can see how all these COVID mitigation measures are throwing things off. Why people want to continue living like the bubble boy for the rest of their lives is beyond me. This isn't normal and has the potential to make things worse for everyone.

I am not a mask lover. I've been back in my law office since June 2020, not June 2021 or 2022. Other than a recent cold (my Covid tests came back negative). I have not been sick since what quite possibly was Covid in February 2020. I only where masks when bludgeoned into doing so. I have been to concerts, and Broadway.

Next.

Ok so you don't seem to be attributing that to masks or social distancing so my comment doesn't really apply to you then. I was referring to people who want to cling to masks and/or other COVID mitigation measures because they haven't gotten sick in a long time.

Not a child but that was me. I got the tri-fecta after getting the second Pfizer shot too soon after having Covid. Job gave me no choice, no stab no job. I should have just retired early. Damn college tuition.

In the video portion, the anonymous student spoke of peers somehow evading pre-prom testing. (My guess is because they had tested positive a few months prior and were exempt.)

Bottom line: there's a major problem in some California schools and anyone who says otherwise shouldn't be trusted.

Because all those high school kids are gonna drop dead like flies and if they don't they will all have "Long Covid" and be bedridden for all of their 20s.

I tend to agree.

Literally just the other day, you saying "something-something-anecdotes-have-no-bearing-on-things".
Today, "hey, look at this anecdote re: some random anonymous person saying something unverifiable".

This is too funny.

You know what's not funny - harassing me. She was making an important effort to explain how there was an outbreak in a system supposedly built to prevent that.

While all sorts of [some insult] try to hijack the discussion so that heads remain in the sand, the fact remains this pandemic is continuing and harming people. Maybe it will injure a few students enough that there will be public outcry or a lawsuit forcing testing to be more effective. Ultimately, it's not so much collective student health as schools injuring employees and well-into-adulthood cohabitants of people from the schools as the learning facilities 'help' keep community spread going.

Ok, I got it, but tell me why do you care what they wear on THEIR face? Let them be! Are you same concerned if they wear a jacket, red socks or flip-flops?
How is that affecting YOU??
