I read the article by Paul Thornton, and the tone of it self explains why folks often trash California when leaving, or after departing.

He presumes it mostly comes down to affordability, and wanting to trade in a modest house for a big home elsewhere. Apparently, he can't see any other reasons why folks would want to leave, and make disparaging comments on their way out the door.

Since he works at the LA Times, in the editorial department, I'd think he'd understand that freedom of speech goes in multiple directions.

I lived in Florida for a year and also have spent a lot of time in Miami. I'm sure most would say that the weather there is worse than Texas and it never stopped anyone from being outside. There were people outside at all times of year, working out, and some (in Miami) even wearing suits in 95 degree heat.

Yes they do. I grew up with hot summers, but now I live in San Diego and can't hardly handle anything outside of 68-72. It's made me soft for sure.

It sure does around here. Could be Mr. Thornton lurks around here, waiting to see what C-D members have to say.

You are wrong. The proposition systems is the only leverage the people have over the tyrannical California government.

Why does the LA Times care what they say after thry're gone?

The LA Times lost tens of Millions last year and are laying off Thousands of employees, so what do they know?

Why doesnt the LA Times write an article asking politicians to spend & tax less, & build more affordable housing?

Seems to me that they are working on the wrong problem.

I'm curious to know where you could live in CA and "never see mountains."

Try San Diego. We have hills, but not really mountains.

Fair enough, but where is your source that it's so bad for you?
