Just mowed a good part of my yard---everyone is out mowing because it's actually not raining--imagine that! Let's see, a horse fly bit me, ouch-- I am covered with wet grass, I am so tired and my poor dog is covered with those pesky little flies again so it looks like he should perhaps have another bath today. I wish I was 20 years younger...ho hum! Thank goodness my neighbor came to my rescue and did the front part of the yard...he is such a blessing. Now to shower and then start online work......
It rained for just a little here.....and now it is sunny. I am sure most people will be happy for nice weather for the many fire works displays.....for families that is really a good time. I have a dog who is super sensitive to the noise so I was sort of hoping for torrential rains .... but that isn't going to happen.....and I don't begrudge the celebrants their fun. We will get thru it.
Just stay close and hold your dog tight to let her know she is safe elston...been there and done that! The just do not understand--infact I really don't understand it either to some degree--people should be respectful of others and the animals and go out to see the fireworks but it is what it is. I Know my kids both enjoy all the craziness too but I've just never really gotten into it. I'd much prefer my critters not have to be terrified....
Got to figure out dinner--ugh--just not feeling anything--maybe mac and cheese.
During the last storm I muckled on to her and held her snuggly between me and the arm of the couch with her face snuggled under my arm......it really seemed to help. I would try one of those "thunder shirts"...but as a front leg amputee...I don't think it would stay on her. The big public displays aren't her worse problem.....(she doesn't like them but like thunder we ride em out).....its the up close firecrackers up close in the neighborhood.....she gets really spooked. I think that is probably why that beautiful little hound was a throw away dog in Tennessee. I don't know but I suspect it was her terror of gunshots....that led to her being loose on the road.
Well elston, I can totally understand her terror--bless her heart! Who knows what she had to endure...but the good thing is you are with her now so she never has to fact that kind of pain again. Just one more reason this part of the country upsets me.....
That is a big thing I do miss about CA--we did have some laws regarding animals and guns and well just some things I was use to there. Here it's more like the wild west I guess and as far as guns and animals--well their thinking and my thinking seem to come from opposite sides of the planet. I had hopes of maybe someday working with the youngsters here and maybe with some luck helping them to understand life a little better but we're talking generations of thinking here so it would be a big if not impossible job. Maybe someday.......
