My Mom uses CVS brand of Depends, and she actually likes them better than Depends. They are much cheaper, and if you have a CVS card and sign up for e-mails, every couple weeks or so they'll send you a coupon (you load it digitally onto your card) for 25% or 30% off whatever you buy, no limit (the only rule is you can't use it for products already on sale) whether online or in the store, that's when we go stock up.
You should explain what you're doing instead of just throwing out brand names.
Is this in regards to just urinary incontinence? What products are you using throughout each day?
I assume that he/she is changing into new underwear when he/she goes to sleep. Is the person aware enough to change undergarments on their own, or do you have to do it for him/her?
Is he/she able to accept incontinence inserts in their regular underwear without tearing them out?
Have you considered using pads or liners during the day instead of briefs and underwear? They are much cheaper.
How effective are the Depends in preventing leaks and overflows? Do you need products with the capacity to hold more liquid?
ocnjgirl, I know you said your mom likes the CVS brand of adult diapers better than Depends.
Have you ever really looked at or tested them for absorbancy? How do they compared on that score?
I ask because we've tried Attends, Tena, Assurance, AND a brand I an't recall that we got from a medical supply place.
My mom is urine and bowel incontinent, and we keep going back to Depends because we've found them the most 'absorbent' (of course we also make sure to get the max absorbency ones). For us -- we found the other brands were OK, but not the best. I'll do a cost compare though, as I did with the others.
As for cost, OP, have you tried ordering by the unlabeled case? I order online by the case from a major big box discounter.
ETA: I just went to the link above for the delivery service. The big box store is waaay cheaper, AND orders over a certain amount have free shipping.

My Mom thinks the CVS ones are actually better than the name brand. She does get the maximum absorbency. She is not completely incontinent though, just walks slowly, is on Lasix and doesn't always make it in time. At night I think she has occasional accidents. She has never complained about them leaking through onto her pants.
Price comparison math....summary then explanation...
Two diapers a day (730 a year):
Discounter price .70 a piece, Costco price .60 a piece...Costco COUPON price: .50 a piece (actually it's .48, but I rounded up to .50)
3 diapers a day (1095 a year):
Discounter 765.00 (.70 each)
Costco regulare price 657.00 (.60 each)
Costco w/ coupon: 547.50 (.50 each) -- (525.60 at .48 each)
BJ's brand: 459.90
=======================
-- Discounter is: 511.00 a year...Regular Costco price, 438.00 a year....EVEN with Costco membership fee of 55.00 -- Costco is 18.00 cheaper...IF YOU USE the 8.50 coupon...Costo is 365.00 -- with the fee it's 91.00 cheaper -- and actually 105. cheaper using the exact .48 cents a piece price.
THREE diapers a day the savings is greater:
Discounter 765.50...Costco REGULAR price is 657.00, Costco COUPON price 547.50
The Costco regular price -- even with the membership fee is 53.50 cheaper per year
The Costco COUPON price of 547.50 -- even with the membership fee is 163.00 cheaper -- at .50 cents a diaper -- and 184.90 CHEAPER at the exact costs of .48 a diaper.
AND...there's BJ's Wholesale Club....its DEPENDS price was 6.00 MORE than Costco's regular online price.
BUT...its own Berkeley and Jensen brand of adult underwear was CHEAPER than even the Costco COUPON price.
BJ's adult undewear/diapers were .42 cents a piece....making the YEARLY 2 diaper a day cost $306.60 -- and the 3 diaper a day cost 459.90.
....at least we now know how much each option costs.....(all prices were for cases of 64 or 72)
-----------------------
ETA: THE CVS brand online price was .72 cents each, more than the big box discounter price for name brand Depends. (with a coupon would lower the price of course, but without a coupon it's one of the most expensive choice I price compared.)
And of course the discounter has other brands including Assurance, Tena, Attends and Prevail -- AND I see that "Always" is getting into the adult diaper/protective underwear....
Attends - .55 each
Assurance - .62 each
Always Discreet - .68 each
Tena - .72 each
Prevail .73 to .80 to 1.00 or more each
I don't know if Costco has its own in-house brand.
Wow thank you to all who did all that price comparisons!!
That was really nice .
I will look into ordering according to price.
Is anyone familiar with the washable incontinent underware?
Or the underware where there is something like a holder to put a pad in.
Was wondering if they were worth it.
