Beautiful, what a sweetie. Looks a lot like our last Black Cat we had, adopted her when she was 3 years old(her owners were getting divorced), she lived to be 19 years old.
I love black cats -- they are so gorgeous. I don't understand the superstition, either.
My sister adopted a sweet little black cat who'd been at the shelter for 6 months -- and she was less than a year old when my sister's kids fell in love with her. Imagine being afraid of a kitten.
My cats are black and white -- would people be afraid of only part of them?
My cat was 4 when I got him and they said the same thing....he is older and they are very hard to get rid of at that age. They ask me like 12x am I sure I will be back to pick him up the next day when going through the process. I had to remind them, I would take him right now if I could, its them making me wait 24 hours lol. 6 Years later, he is the best purchase I ever made in my life. I only wish I could of got him before he could no longer have kids, I love to take care of his children, grand children and etc
I find it sad that a 4-year-old cat is considered "old"!! He has a lot of years left!!
I have adopted kittens and full-grown cats. Kittens are fun, but they are also tiring, and I am sometimes relieved when they "grow up" (although they still often act like kittens!).
I too have adopted two black cats. When I took them to the vet he too warned me about Halloween -- I was shocked, although it was a moot point in my kitties' case as they are and always will be indoor-only.
The photo is one of my black kitties -- this one is Hansel (brother to Gretel -- what can I say, I kept their Humane Society names!). Hansel is the biggest sweetheart in the world. His favorite thing in the world is just to hang out with me. He doesn't need to be cuddled much (although is always willing to have me pick him up), but he likes to be within a few feet of me. I can't imagine my life without him.
(And as you can see from the photo, he is perfectly willing to wear a silly bow made out of Mom's knee-high! Silly kitty, silly Mom!)
Over the years I have had 3 black cats and 3 black dogs. Right now I have one black cat and one black dog.
I have never picked out a dog or cat......they were all strays that found their way to me.
I have also heard that black dogs and cats are harder to find homes for.....although my brother has had 3 black dogs.....one a stray and two that his kids picked out at a shelter.
Karen, Hansel is a handsome boy! Fashionable, too.
People don't realize the added value of black cats -- when they roll around on the ground and you see specks of white all over their fur, you know it's time to vacuum!
